ROSA BURGESS

Collage artist Rosa Burgess creates predominantly analogue artwork by hand, surrounding themes of sexual expression, female pain, gender constructs, and its ties to consumer culture. Her work also extends to mixed media and digital mediums, using found materials, paint and textiles, cut and collaged together in 2D and 3D forms.
A contrast of hyper-cute, soft and pretty motifs subsumed with typically hard or sexualised imagery from dated male and female-centric publications is signature to Rosa’s work. By combining opposing societal notions of femininity Rosa's photomontages evoke empowerment, non-conformity, and desire.
Rosa was born in Lewisham, South London, and studied Womenswear BA Hons at the London College of Fashion. In 2020 she created a capsule collection in collaboration with Versace Jeans Couture, which saw unique designs of her making printed on unisex clothing.
In 2022, Rosa featured in the Pacific Social Group show, and soon after her first solo show in March 2023 where her exploration into 3D work began. Later in 2023 a selection of her art works were featured the Black White Gallery Accessible Art Group Show. Since she has been shortlisted for the Arts to Hearts Project : Emerging Woman Artist Award. Currently, Rosa lives and works in London.
